Virginia Is for Recovery
About Virginia Addiction & Mental Health Center
Outpatient addiction and mental health treatment on the ground where courage has always called Arlington home. We meet people where they are, honor the complexity of recovery, and build a path forward that fits real life.
Our mission
Virginia Addiction & Mental Health Center exists to make high-quality outpatient care accessible, personal, and lasting. We believe recovery from addiction and mental health conditions is not a one-size-fits-all process. It requires clinical skill, cultural humility, and a relentless focus on the person sitting in front of us.
Every day we work to remove the guesswork from treatment. From the first phone call to the final session, our team coordinates care across levels of service, communicates clearly with families and referring providers, and designs schedules that allow people to keep working, parenting, and showing up for their lives.
Safety first
Licensed, evidence-based care with clear protocols for medical and psychiatric stabilization.
Whole-person care
We treat addiction, mental health, and co-occurring conditions as a connected picture, not isolated problems.
Family-wise
Recovery happens in relationships. We welcome family and partner involvement when appropriate.
Local roots, Virginia reach
In-person care in Arlington and telehealth sessions for Virginia residents statewide.
Our approach
- Assessment first. We start with a thorough clinical and psychiatric evaluation to understand substance use, mental health, trauma history, medical needs, and daily responsibilities.
- The right level of care. We match each person to PHP, IOP, or outpatient programming based on clinical need and life context, not a preset script.
- Medication when needed. Our MAT program supports FDA-approved medications for alcohol and opioid use disorders alongside therapy and recovery coaching.
- Higher levels of care, vetted. If detox or residential treatment is the safer starting point, we coordinate with trusted, vetted providers and stay involved through the transition.
Our location
Our center is located in Arlington, Virginia, just minutes from Washington, DC, and a short drive from Alexandria, Falls Church, McLean, Fairfax, Bethesda, and Tysons. We offer flexible in-person scheduling for the DMV and secure telehealth sessions for residents throughout Virginia.
