Privacy Policy
Virginia Addiction & Mental Health Center is committed to protecting the privacy of everyone who contacts us or receives care from us. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Last updated August 2026
Information we collect
We collect information you provide directly — such as your name, phone number, email address, insurance details, and anything you share in a form, quiz, chat, or phone call. We also collect limited technical information automatically, including IP address, browser type, pages viewed, and referring site.
Protected health information (PHI)
Once you become a patient, health information we create or receive is protected health information governed by HIPAA and, for substance use disorder records, 42 CFR Part 2. These records receive additional confidentiality protections and are generally not disclosed without your written consent, except where permitted or required by law.
How we use information
- To respond to inquiries and complete insurance verification
- To coordinate assessments, admissions, and clinical care
- To meet legal, accreditation, and billing obligations
- To improve our website and understand how visitors use it
Advertising and analytics
We may use analytics and advertising tools to measure website performance. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share protected health information with advertising platforms. Where required, we honor Global Privacy Control and similar browser signals.
Text messaging and calls
If you provide your phone number, you consent to be contacted by phone, text, or email about treatment services. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP at any time to opt out. Consent is not a condition of receiving treatment.
How we protect information
We use administrative, physical, and technical safeguards to protect information, including encrypted transmission, access controls, and workforce training. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure.
Your rights
You may request access to, correction of, or a copy of your records; request restrictions on certain disclosures; and request an accounting of disclosures. To make a request, contact us using the information below.
Children
Our website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The revised version takes effect when posted on this page.
